Firefighters and aircraft are on scene and continue to protect properties in the area.
Strong winds are currently affecting the fire ground. This will continue to push the fire in a north easterly direction, the RFS said.

LONG GULLY ROAD FIRE - WATCH AND ACT ALERT ISSUED
A bush fire is burning in bushland south of Drake, Talbulam and the Bruxner Highway. The fire has burnt around 40,000 hectares and is not under control.
The fire is continuing to spread in a number of directions due to strong winds and local terrain.
The fire has spread towards the Sandy Creek and Sandy Hill area this afternoon. Crews have been working to protect homes in this area.
The fire continues to burn to the west of the Clarence River in the Girard State Forest.
The Bruxner Highway is closed between Tabulam and Tenterfield. Check Live Traffic for updates.
If you are in the Sandy Hill area, be aware of smoke and embers. These embers may start spot fires ahead of the main fire front. Follow advice of firefighters working in the area.
If you are in the area of Drake, Ewingar, Tilbaroo and areas on the western side of the Clarence River, follow your bush fire survival plan and ensure you know what you'll do if conditions change.
Areas on the eastern side of the Clarence River should monitor conditions closely. Ensure you know what you will do if the fire impacts on your property.
If you live in the area but are away from your home, it may not be safe to return to your property.

THE Rural Fire Service (RFS) has issued an emergency warning for an out-of-control bushfire near Armidale on Tuesday afternoon
The Bees Nest bushfire has broken containment lines after strong winds fanned the fire.
The fire is burning towards homes and properties in the Billys Creek area, on the northern side of the blaze.
Firefighters and aircraft are working to protect homes in the area, the RFS said.

Long Gully Rd, Drake bushfire
A bush fire is burning in the Long Gully Road, Drake area. The fire has burnt more than 40,000 hectares and is out of control.
An emergency warning is in place for the Long Gully Road fire, due to fire breaching containment lines in the Sandy Point area.
The fire is burning close to properties in the Sandy Hill area. Homes in the area of Macleods Creek Road are under threat.
The fire is continuing to burn south of the Bruxner Highway near Drake and Tabulam, to the west of the Clarence River, in the Girard State Forest.
Strong winds are being experienced. Fallen trees and fire may impact local roads, the RFS said.
The Bruxner Highway is closed between Tabulam and Tenterfield.

If you are in the Sandy Hill area, make your final preparations now. Seek shelter as the fire impacts to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
If you are in the area of Drake, Ewingar, Tilbaroo and areas on the western side of the Clarence River, put your bush fire survival plan into action now.
Areas on the eastern side of the Clarence River should monitor conditions closely. Ensure you know what you will do if the fire impacts on your property.
