Far from a disastrous CBS calamity, it was a celebration of the city's firefighting history with a parade down the main drag to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the West Tamworth fire station which will soon be shut down.
Dozens of families lined Peel Street to catch a glimpse of some of the city's old heroes and their historic vehicles.

The family of West Tamworth's first fire captain, Col Graham, were on hand, including wife Shirley, daughters Belinda and Kerry and granddaughters Lily and Lara.
The West Tamworth station was opened in September 1969 as a back up to the city's primary base in East.
The station will close its doors next year once the new state-of-the-art $5 million South Tamworth 448 Station is finished.
