After No.13 Kobe Bone scored to hand Norths a 16-4 half-time lead, he home side established a match-winning 22-8 lead when their No.6 Brayden Reid crossed. Reid was named the under-18 player of the year on Wednesday night.
However Dungowan made sure Norths did not have a chance to relax, when a Bears turnover from a knock-on with five minutes left of the clock resulted in Cowboys No.13 Jack Todd scoring a converted try: 22-14.
Norths were never headed after crossing early in the match, although it was 4-4 when Cowboys second-rower Kyle Johnson broke through several tackles to touch down.
But then Bears No.11 Dan Kelly crashed over with two minutes remaining in the first half, followed quickly by Bone's try.

Norths coach Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, the former NRL star, liked how organised his side generally was in the face of great pressure.
"It's always hard to be organised when you've got a team like this Dungowan side," he said. "They're very fit, they're very energetic - they're off the line [quick] and they're in your face. So, it actually stifles your attack a little bit. At times we were a little messy, but it was a tough match."
