The 2019 Alec Evans medal winner is now contracted to the Reds until the end of 2023 and will look to impress selectors over the coming months.
"I'll be lining up in the National Rugby Championship (NRC) and I will be keen to prove I'm the best number eight in Queensland," Wilson told the Leader.
"It was awesome to get the contract extension, and I'm really keen to prove myself and I think the NRC is the best way to do that."

Having featured in the junior Wallabies World Cup campaign this year, Wilson said the experience had prepared him for the rigours of Super Rugby.
"I think a few people probably thought I wasn't ready to play Super Rugby this season just gone," he said.
"They may have been right, but I feel so much more prepared for next season and I'm really hopeful I can earn that chance."
Fresh from a Queensland Premier Rugby grand final loss with Brothers, Wilson will line up in the first round of the NRC against Western Force on Saturday.
"I coped with the grand final loss reasonably well because I knew Queensland University played their best game of the season to beat us," Wilson said.
"It will be good to put that behind me now, though, and focus on getting the job done against the Force."
Wilson said the Force clash would give him "a taste of Super Rugby".
"I think it will be a really good test and a good chance for the team to continue to gel together," he said.
"So far the newer guys have really blended in well with some of the older guys and the six-hour trip to Perth should be a good chance for us to bond even more as a group."
