Tamworth Regional Council has opened its heritage assistance fund for 2019 and is ready to match dollar-for-dollar any projects aiming to preserve and enhance local built heritage.
Heritage working group chair Juanita Wilson said the funding, which was fairly unique among NSW councils, could enhance local streetscapes and "add to our community".

"What we're aiming to achieve is to assist the preservation of significant buildings in our place," she said.
"I think it makes us all feel better to see a bright and enhanced streetscape."
Applications for the heritage fund are open until September 19.
