Jock Brazel and Adrian Smith both took home some silverware on Wednesday night, August 14, with Brazel finishing the season as the leading try scorer while Smith cleaned up, winning both the top points scorer and the under-18s best and fairest.
Playing primarily at centre but also spending time in the back row, Brazel ended the regular season with 13 tries to his name, including four try hauls in matches against the Armidale Rams and Tingha Tigers.
Following a strong Andrew Johns Cup campaign with the Greater Northern Tigers under-16s side, Brazel brought with him his strong form to the Moree Boars outfit and helped them to a grand final berth.
He will be hoping to cap off his impressive season with a grand final win this weekend before joining the Parramatta Eels later this year.
Smith capped off an outstanding year for the Boars, taking home two trophies.
He finished tied first as the competition's leading points scorer with 98 points through 10 tries and 29 goals. His 10 tries were good enough for third in the competition behind Brazel and Glen Innes Magpies' Dale Smith.
To add to his collection, his standout performances from week to week were enough to be named the Group 19 Under-18s Best and Fairest.
The young halfback provided a constant threat in attack, using his speed and ball skills to harass opposition defenders.
The Moree Boars under-18s will face off against the Tingha Tigers this Sunday in the grand final in Glen Innes.
