TAMWORTH'S medical ranks could be set to expand with a proposal to build a new physician's suite in the city's north.
A $300,000 development application has been lodged with Tamworth Regional Council to turn a Dean Street house into a new surgery for two full-time physicians.
The building was previously used for hospital accommodation.
The development's statement of environmental said the building's proposed transformation to health clinic would have a great social benefit on the city.
"Access to medical care and health professionals in regional areas is an important factor in the ongoing growth and vitality of regional centres such as Tamworth," the report to council said.
The development has gone on public exhibition and people are able to lodge feedback with Tamworth Regional Council up until Monday, September 2.
