Barnaby Joyce backflip on medicinal cannabis
That his position has flipped again on a decision that gave him votes is a great pity. I look forward to the day we can trust our politicians. If that ever comes.

Medical cannabis
Although I support the fight for access to medicinal cannabis 100 per cent, I disagree with the distinction between medicinal and recreational. There is no distinction.
I am Canadian/Australian and was living in Canada last year when it was legalised for "recreational" purposes. The sky did not fall. My husband died of pancreatic cancer in 2011 and he tried cannabis to ease his symptoms, but he was one of the unfortunate ones who actually gets nauseous from it.
It does not work for everyone or for everything, but the reasons for prohibiting it in the first place were based on politics not science.
Science says that alcohol is more damaging to the human body than cannabis. My body does not tolerate alcohol anymore.
I would like access to a legal substance that also eases my aches and pain, social anxiety and insomnia that does not have the side effects of prescription drugs. Multiple polls demonstrate the public's support for legalisation.
Why are the politicians not listening? Enough already.

Climate change
I joined GetUp because, like so many Australians, I felt ignored by government.
I am an age pensioner living in a small town in NSW. As a citizen of this country, I believe that I have a right to be part of the democratic process. In fact, I demand to be heard. I haven't lived this long to have anyone tell me otherwise.
I will never be silenced, nor will I allow the children of this country to be treated with disrespect for the knowledge they have. They know as we all do that Climate Change is an issue and we as the inhabitants of this planet must be held accountable for what we are doing to it.
Trying to shut us up will not work. The more you hate us, the harder we will fight. This is our country and we demand the right of press freedom and for the rights of whistleblowers to be held as sacrosanct as it always has been in the past and must be into the future
When we have a government which believes in secrecy and tries to silence its critics, we are travelling down a very dark road towards totalitarianism.
Democracy is for all in Australia, not just Scott Morrison's chosen few.

Water situation in N.S.W
Let's just cut the crap give it to the private sector or it will just take forever to do and it will happen but let's not run out of water first. Stop the talk and get on with it.

Water shortage
I read the news about transporting water by means of rail. It also says it's a logistical nightmare. My question is why no one is thinking of laying a pipeline from the area where we got the water and make the water supply future proof to Tamworth.
