This week, the University of New England officially launched its "upstairs" Smart Region Incubator (SRI), giving people a space to grow their ideas and network with other entrepreneurs.
There were about 50 people at the upstairs launch with panel discussions with founders and guests, including Lee Ussher of Buzz Web Media (UNE Alumni and SRI mentor) and Kate Baker from regional economic development at Tamworth Regional Council.

Guests were given an insight into the new SRI space and all the opportunities it can bring to Tamworth.
The SRI opened nearly two years ago and now supports over 48 startup founders located in Armidale, Tamworth and the region.
"The launch of the new upstairs, bigger and brighter space for the SRI, has demonstrated the incredible growth of startups across our region," UNE community and outreach manager Dimity Smith said.
"This new space, thanks to the support of Tamworth Regional Council, means more room for new founders, a bright and welcoming space, more opportunities for client business dealings in our meeting rooms and collaboration for national and international success with our existing founders."
