The 46-year-old Armidale woman is accused of negligent driving occasioning the death of the 76-year-old on Markham Street, shortly after midday on August 9.
Armidale detectives have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian accident and charged the woman after questioning her at Armidale Police Station.
Detectives allege the woman was driving along Markham Street, and struck the man as he crossed the road at a pedestrian crossing, near the intersection of Rusden Street.

The man suffered critical head injuries and was rushed by paramedics to Armidale hospital.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter from Tamworth was also tasked to Armidale after the accident but the man succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital.
A crime scene was set up at the crossing, which was combed by forensic police.The vehicle involved was also seized for forensic and mechanical examination, as part of the investigation.
The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Armidale hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Following investigations, she was charged with one count of negligent driving occasioning death.
She's been granted conditional bail to front Armidale Local Court in September.
Detectives have confirmed investigations into the crash are continuing.
