Close to 30 riders from Tamworth, the Central West and as far down as the Hunter Valley were part of the contingent that bussed it down from Calala to Quirindi for the start of the 85km ride.
It was a chilly start for the group, but it wasn't long before the sun was shining and the group took off, stopping along the way at Quipolly Dam, Werris Creek, Currububula, and then finishing at Calala Inn for a well-earned feast.
The ride is a prelude to the helicopter's major fundraiser - the Ride for the Chopper - which this year will see more than 65 riders tackle the beaches and the hills as they wind their way from Coffs Harbour to Tamworth.
