Police investigations have begun after a man was stabbed during an attempted armed robbery yesterday.

At about 2pm on Wednesday, a man entered a Tamworth home, threatened the male occupant with a knife and demanded money.
A scuffle ensued during which the male occupant was stabbed twice in the neck.

Police officers attended immediately and established a crime scene.
Police believe the man left the scene in a 2000 model red Mazda 626 sedan.
Ambulance NSW attended and took the injured man to Tamworth Hospital. He remains in a stable condition to be taken to John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle for further treatment.
The man has been described as of medium build, Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, with medium-length dark hair, a moustache and goatee, wearing a white jumper.
