Last year the Currabubula Events team founded the "traditional style country ball" as a way to both raise funds to maintain and improve the local hall, and also bring the local community together, and attract visitors to town.

Tickets have been flying out the door, and include champagne on arrival and a three-course meal, plus live entertainment and a guaranteed good time courtesy of the Jimmy Craz Band.

The charity ball will also see $7000 worth of items auctioned on the night, along with a silent bidding option according to committee member Veronica Filby-Martin.

"It is all about raising money to help the community, as well as bringing the community together," Mrs Filby-Martin said.

"We want to improve the hall to make it more of a function space to cater for larger functions - people are starting to use country halls more often, so we want to utilise and showcase what our community has."

This year the committee has also introduced a Star Raffle, for anyone who can't make the ball but wishes to contribute to the cause, and go in the running to pick up a pair of $900 Birkbeck earrings, or a Gold Coast accommodation and heli-tour package.

"Currabubula is becoming a very trendy spot, and we love it," Mrs Filby-Martin said.

"The town is in a great spot that links a lot of areas like Tamworth, Gunnedah and Quirindi so when we hold events people are coming for a full day out.

"With the drought, we want to see small communities like ours supported, bring new business and visitors to town, and do something for the locals."

Tickets to both the ball and the Star raffle are available on the Currabubula Events website, while the Curra Hotel will be running a courtesy bus to and from Tamworth, with bookings via the website as well.
