The poultry giant released the details of its Oakburn expansion for public comment.

The company currently processes a million birds a week, producing 160 tonnes of finished product. The expanded facilities would see that jump to three million birds a week and 240 tonnes of product.

If approved, the new facility will replace Baiada's processing plan in West Tamworth, which will be closed down.

A total of 1176 people will be needed to operate the new plant when it's fully operational, meaning Baiada will have to increase its workforce by 682. The company also plans to build an 820-space car park to cater for all its new employees.

Baiada's potable water demand will increase by approximately six megalitres a day.

"To minimise water demand, Baiada is proposing to implement an Advanced Water Treatment Plant which will treat 100 per cent of the water used, and deliver approximately 75 per cent," the documents state.

The project's odour footprint "encroaches beyond the site boundary marginally to the north and marginally to the south", however it "does not cover any sensitive receptors".

"Therefore ... the proposed processing plant is unlikely to cause adverse odour impacts under normal conditions," the documents stated.

The proposal is expected to generate up to 408 heavy vehicle trips per day, while staff working at the facility will create almost 2000 vehicle trips everyday.

To easy the additional traffic, the plans include a new access driveway that connects the site to Armstrong St within the industrial estate via Workshop Ln.

Baiada said the project would have a number of flow on effect, including a significant increase in supply chain and construction jobs.

The extra half-a-million tonnes of grain the company will need for the expand operation, which will be primarily sourced from the local area, is expected to add $136 million to the local economy.
