McCulloch Agencies, on Peel Street, is set to introduce further competition to the local stock and station market, offering rural and residential property, and stock sales, as well as an asset management service, with Mr Barton taking on the role of rural property specialist.
For the two time Olympic and Commonwealth Games shooter, and medalist, the challenge of working in property sales "was an itch I always wanted to scratch" after firing his last competitive shot in 2009.

Since then Mr Barton has been working in sales for arms manufacturer Beretta, servicing the Queensland and Northern Territory region.
"I was always attracted to the agency business and it was what I wanted to do, but then at the age of 17 little orange clay targets got a hold of me, and they took me around the world and offered me a career," he said.
"The last industry I was in had become easy, and I think that competitive side of me was coming out - I perform best outside of my comfort zone, and this new challenge has me there at the moment, and I am looking forward to it.
"It also offers a lot less travel, so I can spend more time at home and with my family."
McCulloch Agencies GM Daniel McCulloch first stepped into the Tamworth saleyards at the age of 15, and has worked in the local industry ever since.
By October the new business will have a staff of ten, and will also have a Sydney office, which Mr McCulloch hopes will "take Tamworth to the city by opening a channel of trust between metro investors and regional opportunities."
On Monday the new enterprise will have a grand opening at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange, where one beast out of the first pen of cattle sold will be donated to the local Westpac Rescue Chopper.
