Carlie Howcroft moved from Sydney to Tamworth a few years ago, and just recently has noticed a few posts and comments on Facebook about people in the region being lonely, or unable to meet new friends in the region.
"I have been quite fortunate to make some really good friends, but I also know how hard it can be - it can be a real struggle, and can be heartbreaking for some people," she said.

On Thursday Mrs Howcroft has organised the inaugural Meet and Greet Let's Become Friends Day at the Tamworth Regional Playground from 10am to midday, with "people of all age groups, backgrounds, singles, couples, families and all welcome to attend."
"There is the park for people with kids and coffee for adults," she said.
"People can just come and have a chat and find other people they have things in common with.
"If you are shy, there will be other shy people, if you are an extravert there will be other extraverts - everyone is in the same boat, wanting to meet new people and make new friends."
Anyone interested can look for the red and green balloons in the park as the meeting point.
