Every dollar raised goes to Headspace, a mental health service for young people aged 12 to 25. Some members of the team have experienced depression or anxiety themselves, organiser Peter Anderson said.

"They know first-hand about the stigma of mental health, and how important it is to ask for help when you feel like you need it," he said.

Already the team has raised $710, pulled off more than 1000 push ups and is ranked 379 out of all fundraising groups taking part.

Mr Anderson, Chris Hadden, Ash Walton, Ryan Hanrahan, Ben Kunovic, Tom Gasson, Ben Coombes, Anna Wotton, Kallum McCouat, and Amy van der Graaf are in the team and they're averaging 15 to 20 push ups each day.

And the team have been known to do the push ups no matter where they are, Mr Anderson said.

"We have the generous support of The Welder's Dog with owner Ben Coombes not only participating as a member of the team but pledging to make a donation on behalf of the business," he said.

"Three of our team members actually completed their push ups at the bar when they were reminded that they hadn't completed their 15 for the day."

Tamworth resident Ashleigh Walton was stoked to be involved in the 10-person team called Misfits88.

"This is one small thing that we can do to help break down the stigma that comes with mental illness and show everyone, especially young people, that they are not alone," she said.

"I think the biggest message I'd like to share is that if you are experiencing depression or anxiety, don't be afraid to ask for help."
