IT WAS a day of smiles, song and culture in Coledale as a big group of kids were in training for this year's NAIDOC corroboree.
There will be one more day of practice on Friday at The Youthie ahead of their traditional dance showcase in Bicentennial Park at Friday's family fun day celebrations.
The Friday festivities will begin with a community march from Viaduct Park to Bicentennial Park at 9.30 with NAIDOC presentations from 11am onwards.
It comes as the federal government, on Thursday, committed to holding a referendum on recognition of Indigenous Australians in the constitution.
But Indigenous Australians Minister Ken Wyatt has stressed the government won't go ahead with a referendum until it's certain it will succeed.
