Playing host to their cross-town rivals at Tamworth No.1 Oval, the Roos got off to a sluggish start allowing the Swans to take a five-point lead into the first break.
However, a goal from captain Shannon Campbell early in the second term, helped the Roos regain the lead heading into half-time.

Campbell led the way for her side in front of goal again in the third quarter, before Lucy Smith snagged the Roos third for the game a few minutes later.
A gutsy last-quarter effort from Swans' midfielders Daisy George, Stephanie Koukides and Lara Taggart helped restrict the Roos to just a solitary behind for the final term.
However, Olivia Climpson's first-quarter goal proved to be the Swans last major with the Roos running out 3-9-27 to 1-3-9 winners.
Roos coach Brett Douglas said while the win was nice, it came at a cost to his side.
"We had Amanda Brown go down with a knee injury and Danielle Abbott went down with an ankle injury," Douglas told the Leader.
"At this stage we're not too sure how serious both of those injuries are.
"Hopefully they are not too bad because both AB [Brown] and Danni [Abbott] are having terrific seasons."
After the duo were struck down by injury, Douglas said his entire side "really lifted to help get us over the line".
"With those two going down, I was really impressed with the way the rest of the team stood up," he said.
"The Swans have improved out of sight and this was a real danger game for us.
"Natalie Deaves, Emily Southwell, Cassandra Small and Savannah Shepherd were just some of the girls who really played well to help us get over the line."
The win sees the Roos secure second place on the AFL North West women's ladder, two games clear in front of the Swans in third.
In the round's other match, the Inverell Saints defeated the New England Nomads 15-16-106 to 1-1-7.
