THE Evocities councils, including Tamworth, will be refunded with the future of the marketing scheme hinging on a meeting next month.
Tamworth's councillors will get an update on the immediate future of the program at their meeting on Tuesday night.
The council had budgeted for a $332,000 on Evocities over the next four years, but business director John Sommerlad said in his report said the funds had already been "redirected to other initiatives" with the memorandum of understanding torn up.
A representative of the Evocities steering committee has been invited to make a presentation to the August meeting of the new group Regional Cities NSW, detailing the achievements of decade-long marketing scheme.
The report said remaining Evocities' funds would be equally distributed to the seven councils but the websites will remain up-and-running until at least November 30.
