The business case was presented to the movers and shakers in Canberra during the week, and the people behind it are quietly confident it's the next step in achieving funding for a campus in the city.
The Tamworth University Reference Group presented a compelling case to Education Minister Dan Tehan and his cohorts, asking for $10 million from federal coffers towards the project.
That wouldn't be the end of it of course, with another $16 million (on top of the $26.4 million already committed by the state government) still needed to get the deal off the ground, but at least the momentum is building and perhaps one day in the not too distant future this project will be more than pie in the sky.
The dedication of the project's proponents is to be admired.
To another big project now and we're also seeing more in the way of love for a bigger Dungowan Dam to help ease the region's water woes.
Council general manager Paul Bennett says there's never been a better time for the government to come on board with the cash for the project, which would offer Tamworth triple the yield of a Chaffey Dam upgrade.
Now journalists are not known for being in the 'numbers game', but it does make sense doesn't it - if the yield is so much higher - to invest in the Dungowan option.
I don't want to take up too much of your time, I know Sunday's are precious if you are lucky enough to have the time off. So enjoy the rest of your weekend, and we'll catch up again during the week.
