Strike Force Yarramunmum - a secret operation by Oxley detectives - has been investigating the supply of the drug between Gunnedah and the Muswellbrook.
The investigation was made public after a car stop on Denman Road in Muswellbrook at 12.05am on March 12.
Police allege they searched the car and found 4.7kg of cannabis which they claim has an estimated street value of $32,000.
After extensive investigations, police arrested a 54-year-old in Lake Munmorah last week.

He was questioned by police and is facing two charges of taking part in the supply of more than an indictable quantity of cannabis.
He was granted conditional bail by police to front Wyong Local Court later this month.
A second man, who was driving the car at the time of the midnight stop by police, remains before the court on drug supply charges.
Police said investigations by Strike Force Yarramunmum are continuing.
