The brother of West Tigers NRL player Michael Chee Kam has escaped without conviction after admitting his involvement in a ride-share driver assault at Bondi Beach.

Livingston Chee Kam, a Manly Sea Eagles junior, pleaded guilty to common assault on Wednesday but Waverley Local Court magistrate Greg Grogin threw the charge out under a provision allowing him to dismiss trivial matters.
His rugby league playing brother Michael was convicted in May, fined and placed on a one-year good-behaviour bond for slapping the ride-share driver on Campbell Parade in December.
The younger Chee Kam approached the driver afterwards, took hold of his hands and assured him not to worry as Michael was drunk, Livingston's lawyer said.
"This is a case that should never have been brought before a court," Danny Eid told AAP on Wednesday.
