For the first time, the women's team will get to exhibit their skills on the field along with their social skills off it on ladies day. The ladder-leading Saints will clash with the ever-improving Swans at Varley Oval on Saturday and captain Clare McCosker can't wait.
"It's a big fundraising event for us. It's a highlight of our social calendar but it's the first time we've actually played on the day so we're looking forward to showcasing our game in front of, hopefully, a good crowd," McCosker said.
McCosker has been with the women's team from day dot and is into her second year captaining the side.
She said the impact the women's game has had at the club had been positively sensational.
"Having the women's competition, I think, has definitely transformed our club. The Inverell Saints have always had a really good club and really good support network but I think that added dynamic of a women's team has really changed and bettered our club over the last few years," McCosker said.
The Saints have set the benchmark in 2019. They are unbeaten with a for and against percentage of 690.91.
McCosker said last year's grand final loss had driven the side to go one better in 2019.
"I think the loss definitely hit us really hard compared to our celebrations from the year before [when they won the competition]," the skipper said.
"That's driven us to improve our skills this year and work together as a team.
"We went really well during the season last year as well so we just want to be able to finish it off at the end of the season when it matters."
For now, McCosker and the Saints are focusing on this weekend.
They take on the Swans who have surged to life in the competition.
"We're expecting a huge game against the Swans," McCosker said.
"They've come off two really good wins and we've come off a few weeks off. We haven't played since the start of June.
"We're really excited. I think it's going to be cracking game. Hopefully we can keep improving and see how it goes."
