ONE Tamworth chain-store has survived a potential closure as questions remain about the city's box retail stores.
A spokesperson for The Reject Shop confirmed Tamworth's store wouldn't be among the seven outlets set to be shut nationally following a poor period of sales.
The closures reflected "a tough trading environment" as well as increased competition and pricing pressure from supermarkets and department stores.
While it is one Tamworth store which won't be shutting up shop, questions still remain about the the city's larger retailers, including Big W and Target.
Earlier this year, Big W announced it would close 30 of its outlets, while Target said a dozen of its shop would have to go.
The future for these stores remains unclear.
