But for at least 64 people injured in serious accidents or in the workplace in the region, it's a real hassle.
That's where Connect-A-Ride plans to make tracks, a collaboration between icare and Oxley Community Transport.
"At this stage we hope we can do it cheaper than a cab and give them the door-to-door service that we're famous for," Oxley Community Transport manager Sharon Tibbs said.
"This is what we do, we help frail and elderly people who aren't fully mobile, that's where our specialty lies.
"It's giving them back the quality of life they deserve."
The project launches on Monday and those in need only have to book through a Liftango mobile app to be taken where they need to go.
Oxley Community Transport won the tender for the project and has provided transport to the elderly for three decades throughout Tamworth and the Liverpool Plains.
The fleet of 12 vehicles has wheelchair access, minibuses and service vehicles dependent on the needs of the client.
The driver base is both paid and volunteer which helps the organisation keep the costs low.
With social outings organised for senior and frail, Ms Tibbs hopes the service expansion could help bring isolated people back into the fold.

"Especially in a rural area where there's no public transport, people in a wheelchair can't go and jump on the bus - they can't do it, it's really limited," she said.
"This app will show them in real-time where the car is, who the driver is going to be and an estimate of when they'll be picked up.
"We'd like these people to join our social outings, meet new people and get out in the community, not be at home looking at the same four walls."
The difference between Connect-A-Ride and a taxi is that the drivers will know the limitations of the client before they arrive, project coordinator Lashae Adams said.
The project will launch on Monday July 1 at midday at Oxley Community Transport with a small celebration.
