For the Lions, the loss was their seventh of the season and sees them sit in eighth position on the Central North ladder, two points clear of the Inverell Highlanders.
As they did in the corresponding clash in the first round, the two clubs rallied together to support former Lion and Pirate Harrison Frear.
The Lions sported special one-off jerseys which were auctioned off later in the night to help support the former player, who was seriously injured in a car accident last year.
Quirindi will now turn their attention to a winnable clash against the Barraba Rams in Barraba.
Meanwhile, the Gunnedah Red Devils will be looking to continue their winning ways against the Narrabri Blue Boars at Dangar Park on Saturday.
It was a similar story for the Quirindi Lionesses in their two games against the Pirates women's team.
Pirates recorded two comfortable victories, the first a 22-5 victory and the second a 29-5 victory.
