The 30-year-old stage was torn down by demolition crews on Friday afternoon after Tamworth Regional Council decided it had deteriorated beyond the point of return.
It didn't take long for the stage to come down, with the bulk of the demolition done in one day.
But, it's not the end for dramatists, as Tamworth Regional Council voted to keep a proposal for a new stage in its five-year cultural plan.
The stage was a memorial to former mayor Norman McKellar, who will be remembered with the two dedicated plaques once on the stage to be reinstalled elsewhere in the park.

Before it was torn down, the stage had become a place for antisocial behaviour and saw limited use outside of Tamworth Country Music Festival.
There are no plans yet for the location of a replacement stage in Bicentennial Park.
