Northern Inland Premier League coach Evan Quaife is eager to get back into the swing of things in after having the bye the weekend prior.
They face second-placed South Armidale for round 10 of the competition.
"We are looking good. It really depends on how we turn up on the day," Quaife said.
"Had a good break, I daresay, we haven't played for three weeks.
"We will be ready to go."
DK are clinging on to fourth place with 11 points.
North Companions are hot on their heels with 10 points on the table and Quaife said there's no time like the present to get their campaign going.
"It is probably an important game for us to stay in contention for the top, close game the last time we played [Souths]," he said.
"Souths are a good team and daresay they will be fired up for the game after their loss last week.
"Like every coach will say, if every team plays their best they will be hard to beat.
"Probably no different with my fellas."
South Armidale were beaten in their last-start against North Companions in what Scorpions' club president Joe Campbell described as a "wake up call."
Campbell believes his team will have to fire from the get-go.
"We need to keep winning but a loss every now and then can keep you level headed," he said.
"DK always lift against us, so we have got to be ready to go right from the whistle.
"If the boys don't do that, we found out the last time we played them that they got it on us early.
"I suppose it is the same with Companions got a goal on us early so we know how hard it is to come back at time so we have to be on from the start and see how we go."
East Armidale have the bye while across town Norths United face Oxley Vale Attunga.
The Redmen were beaten in their last match against Tamworth FC 2-1.
Coach John Edmunds said it was a case of missed opportunities against FC and hopes they can capitalise this time around.
"It was probably the one that got away," he said.
"We didn't play that badly against FC, we played some really good football at times but didn't take our chances.
"Hopefully this weekend we put away some of our chances.
"We had scored a few in our previous games but we made a couple of mistakes and got punished for it."
Edmunds is expecting a "tough" game but the Redmen are feeling "pretty confident."
