AN OFF-DUTY police officer has allegedly swerved off the road and hit a tree while under the influence of alcohol.

The New England senior constable was driving south on Frome Street in Moree just after 11pm when the incident allegedly occurred.
A 30-year-old woman notified police of the crash, when officers arrived they subjected the driver to a breath test that returned a positive result.
The driver was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station and breath analysis revealed she had a blood alcohol level of 0.099.

A court attendance notice was served on the senior constable, she is due to appear in Moree Local Court on Monday July 22.
She has been charged with mid-range drink-driving.
