Unfortunately Kevin Anderson was unable to confirm any available dates according to Lucy Haslam, however Mr Joyce "does have the screening in his diary."

The documentary is based on the trials and tribulations of local Mike Gallagher, and follows his bicycle journey into the world of medicinal cannabis, exploring the capabilities, frustrations and hurdles Australians face in accessing the drug.

"Our politicians are supposed to be representing the community, but I am not sure that is the case with medicinal cannabis," Mrs Haslam said.

"This is still a major political issue - the majority of the community seem to be in support of it - the same as the rest of the world - but in Australia we have adopted the wrong system.

"We need to chuck it all out and start again, but it is very complicated because we have come so far down the wrong path."

Meanwhile Mrs Haslam revealed that a sequel is already in the pipeline, with Higher Than Mike, set to feature a, yet to be named, central character with a much large public profile.

"I think our politicians should watch the documentary with the community, as a community," Mrs Haslam said.

High as Mike will screen at the Capitol Theatre on August 8.
