With the exception of mainly essential services workers - and journalists - the long weekend was a great chance to relax, spend time with family or soak up some wintertime sunshine.
For many, it was also time to hit the road to the Tamworth region, an estimated 10,000 visitors flocking in for events such as baseball and AFL carnivals, a rugby championship, the NCHA Futurity and the dance eisteddfod.
But a new regular attraction was one of the city's busiest places during the Queen's birthday break, families and young people hitting Tamworth Regional Skate Park for a scoot, skate or ride.
Our photographer Peter Hardin captured just a slice of the action on the Monday.
Enjoy - and admire - his photos of the skill and daring on display.
