Tamworth and District Water Polo Club has been awarded a Giving4Grassroots™ Sport4Everyone grant from the Australian Sports Foundation.
The $2,920 grant will be used to assist school-aged children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and Indigenous students from local schools, to participate in the club's competitions.
G4G™ is the foundation's national grants program.
It funds initiatives and projects aimed at increasing participation in grassroots and community sport throughout Australia.
That funding occurs regardless of background or ability.
The Australian Sports Foundation chief executive, Patrick Walker, said the grant will make a positive impact to the Tamworth and District Water Polo Club and to the wider community.
"This grant will provide Tamworth and District Water Polo Club with more opportunities for active sports participation within the local community," he said.
"Sport is the common language of our country.
"And this grant is an important step towards more locals participating in sport and leading a more active and healthier lifestyle."
