The North West women's side have overcome a less-than-ideal preparation to beat North Coast by 40 points at No 1 Oval on Saturday night.

North West's preparation for the clash consisted of what their coach, Andrew Donahue, described as "a bit of a run around" in a park on game day.
He praised his charges' "team effort right across the board" in the 7.7 (49) to 1.3 (9) win - saying it was "more than I could have asked for".

Most of the players, he said, had competed against one another but had not played together previously.
North West's Gabby Mooney was named best on ground.
"The girls gelled real well, real quick," Donahue said, adding that he was "lucky as".
He continued: "If they had a couple of training runs as a group, it would have been even better."
Donahue, coach of the Swans women, mentored the North West side for first time.
He said Saturday's match was almost a "no go" because it was "left almost too late to go ahead".
"And then the phone calls went out," he said, "and that's when all the volunteers and coaches and stuff [were recruited].
"And when I got asked to coach, I just snapped it up ... it was good."
Donahue said women's AFL in the region was progressing in "leaps and bounds".
He said his players "really turned it on" against North Coast.
He added: "We've put a Swans team in the comp this year ... and we had girls in both the youth team and women's team yesterday [Saturday], and they performed really well, too.
"The ones that played in the youth girls were actually also playing in my senior women's team.
"And to play against their own age group was a good opportunity to get their confidence up. Their skills lifted and their general attack on the ball was unreal."
In earlier games, North Coast won the under-13, 15 and 17 boys, as well as the youth girls.
