A BIG victory has seen the North West's open-age Combined High Schools soccer team finish it's carnival campaign on a high note.

After losing their first game of the carnival to Hunter (4-0) and drawing with Sydney East (1-1), North West regrouped to draw their first day two game against Western (2-2) and go down 1-0 to Riverina.
However, the side put a rocky two days behind it to claim a 4-0 victory in their final game against West Darling.

Oxley High School students Emma James (two goals), Mim Barbara (one goal) and Lara Graham (one goal) starred in the victory.
Team coach Darren Desmid said he was proud his team's overall eleventh-place finish.
"Day one was tough but to the girls credit they didn't drop their heads," Desmid said.
"They fought on really bravely and played really well. I couldn't be more proud of them."
Desmid said he hoped the experience would encourage the students to continue striving for representative honours.
"Hopefully they will be back bigger and better next year," he said.
"They showed a lot of promise, so I'm really hoping they want to go around again next year."
