That's why we've launched the Water Pressure campaign.
We've kicked off with five stories to get you up to speed with what the current situation is.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said the state government won't be allocating any funding for water infrastructure projects to the Namoi region until it finishes a study identifying what the best options are.
NSW Water Minister Melinda Pavey said that study won't be done until the end of 2020.
It turns out the NSW government has already identified and costed more than a dozen projects across the Peel catchment, which range from dam upgrades to pipelines.
Without any action, it's a bleak outlook for towns and cities across the New England, with many on serious water restrictions.
