The first game of a weekend-long Premier League double-header saw Northies cough up a 1-0 first-half lead,to go down 2-1 at the final whistle.
North Companions coach Jackson Zifodya described the game as "one that got away".
"We let through a bit of a silly goal and from there the momentum was sucked away from us," Zifodya said.
"It was another game we really should have won, we were on top for the entire first half but lost it after that goal.
"Our guys have to learn that things like that will happen, but it is about how we respond that matters."

Northies did respond in their Sunday fixture, running out 5-0 winners over East Armidale.
"We were actually tied at nil all at half-time," Zifodya said.
"It's fair to say I was a bit nervous and I gave the guys quite the talking to at half-time.
"From there, they responded really well and piled on all five goals in the second half."
Zifodya said the five-goal second-half effort was a showcase of what his side is capable of.
"They have shown that they can play like that," he said.
"I think it goes to show what we can do when we convert our opportunities.
"Now for us, it is about doing it consistently for entire games."
North Companions will now turn their attention to a round 10 fixture against the in-form South Armidale Scorpions.
"It will be a tough match for us, but it is such a close competition that anything can happen," Zifodya said.
"We saw on the weekend that Souths can be beaten and I'm confident our guys can do that too.
"If we can make the most of our opportunities I'm confident we can go pretty well."
