PHOTOS of a man's hands holding an illegal Desert Eagle pistol has led investigators to two Tamworth men.

In the early hours of Thursday morning officers from Oxley Police District stopped a man on Kurruwan Street.
A search of the man and his phone revealed images of a distinct pistol being held by a pair of adult male hands.
Police then searched a nearby area where they allegedly found a disassembled Magnum Desert Eagle .22 calibre pistol.
The 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with possess unregistered firearm, possess unauthorised firearm-pistol, and not keep firearm safely-pistol.
He was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Local Court, where he was formally refused bail to reappear next Monday.
Oxley Target Action Group detectives conducted further inquiries to identify the person the hands in the photographs belonged to.

At about 11:45am, a 26-year-old man was arrested at a home on Anthony Road and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
He was charged with three outstanding warrants and possess unregistered firearm and possess unauthorised firearm-pistol.
The 26-year-old man was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Local Court, to reappear on Friday.
