I write in reply to Peter Wills letter titled "Networking Event from May 8, 2019" where he unreservedly and ferociously attacks Barnaby Joyce and the Liverpool Plains Business Chamber for not being able to attend the Zonta Club meet the candidates forum that was "focused on women's issues".

I (and I am sure many others) however, would like to know why the Zonta forum was cancelled ONLY after Barnaby Joyce could not attend?
If the issues of the Zonta forum were so important then why were the other candidates not given the opportunity to address the forum? That is really setting the mark that only one candidate's views were important.
Having spoken with the organisers of the meeting, Mr Joyce wanted to address the chamber before the election. The double booking was due to a miscommunication in Mr Joyce's diary and they chose to attend the event they organised first. The chamber also made it quite clear that no other candidate had asked to address their meeting and would be given the opportunity if requested.
Honest, hard working volunteers of small community organisations don't deserve to be attacked in this fashion.
Perhaps next time before shamefully attacking a small community group like the Liverpool Plains Business Chamber about an extremely important women's related forum, Mr Wills might want to check that it is actually on.
