The 50-10 scoreline - in Uni Shield and NRL Schoolboys Cup openers at Farrer on Wednesday - made a mockery of Farrer manager John Lesslie's pre-match claim that Matraville were favourites.
He based that assessment on the fact that Farrer were missing four regular starters.
Farrer crossed early in the match via outstanding No.7 Mitchell Henderson - who this month won the Harold Matthews Cup with Parramatta - and blew the Sydney school away with speedy structured play and passion.
Conversely, Matraville were, as the scoreline suggests, very ordinary: their lack of offensive creativity making them easy targets for Farrer's defence.
Farrer scored nine tries, and led 24-6 at halftime. While Matraville crossed twice - a fair indication of the home side's dominance.
Farrer captain Sam Wentworth beamed after the match. He believes the side can go far in both competitions, provided they improve.
He said the side had a strong culture and was in a "really good place".
"We come out strong, I think [against Matraville]," he said. "We weren't really polished like we'd like to be: there were a fair few incomplete sets, which wasn't the best."

After Farrer established a 12-0 lead when centre Cooper Harris crossed from close range in the 14th and Henderson converted, Matraville responded with a converted try in the 21st minute.
However, Farrer quickly re-established their dominance when No.16 James Marshman crossed from close range and then centre Kyle Johnson scored just before the break.
