President Trevor Bradberry said the organisation already has 11 financial members, but would need at least 20 to sign up in order to pay the required public liability insurance.

A membership to join the new club costs just $25 a year, or $15 for anyone under the age of 12.

"We held the first meeting recently and have the committee sorted with all offices filled," he said.

"We have got the building, and some equipment and tools ready to go, we just need a few more members."

Mr Bradberry was, and continues to be, on the hunt for a shed or facility that could be used to start the venture in town, although has charitably donated a shed on his Currabubula property, as well as some tools and equipment to get the shed up and running.

"We are trying to build the Tech Shed from the ground up and I decided that I couldn't take membership money before we had a facility," Mr Bradberry said.

"This shed will just be a temporary site while we continue to grow the membership."

The computer and pinball machine enthusiast didn't think the venture would ever happen when an original Facebook post only received one response, however a second attempt late last year received plenty of interest and kick-started the movement.

"We had 30 followers last year, and now we have 93 - there has been a lot of interest in a lot of different aspects, which is great," he said.

"We have nine desks with computers and soldering gear, and a range of hand and power tools, a Lego table, a 3d printer, as well as some 'hacking fodder', which members can do what they want with.

"We would love to get some more computer controlled equipment like CNC routers and robotics equipment.

"Eventually we want the shed to be accessible to everyone, once we find a venue in town."
