The Gunnedah Bulldogs have continued their unbeaten start to the season by defeating the New England Nomads 16-8-104 to 9-11-65 at Bellevue Oval.

The Inverell Saints proved too strong for the Tamworth Swans getting up 10.16-76 to 5.12-42 at No.1 Oval.

Central North Rugby Union

Moree are the only undefeated side after pipping Walcha 30-29 in their top of the table clash at Weebolla Oval. Jono Spain was the hero for the Bulls kicking a penalty after the bell.

Sanimo Navatu was meanwhile like a rampaging bull as Gunnedah overpowered Quirindi 48-25. The barnstorming number eight continued his sensational start to the season with a hat-trick.

Narrabri were too good for Barraba running out 50-12 victors while Pirates snapped their three-game losing run with a 49-24 win over Scone.

Tamworth Sporting Rugby Union Club continued their undefeated start to the season with a hard fought 24-21 win over Robb College in their top of the table clash.

In the other first grade game Armidale defeated Barbarians 39-17 to take out the Invest Blue Charity Shield for 2019.

There were a number of aspects about Werris Creek's 40-32 home defeat of Narrabri on Saturday that screamed assuredness - including the spark Callum Hayne provided from dummy half and back-rower Cody Tickle's damaging right-edge play.

But perhaps the most eye-catching of that assuredness, in what was a lively, entertaining match, occurred in the blink off an eye - when halfback Scott Berry went himself about 15 metres out from Narrabri's tryline and combined characteristic pace off the mark with uncharacteristic power to barge over under the posts in the first half.

"Where did that come from?" a teammate noted.

Indeed.
