Kyle Smith, 21, was refused bail in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday after his arrest the day before.
Oxley detectives released CCTV footage of the crime in January that helped with the capture of the co-accused, Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy said.
"It was part of it, but there were a number of factors," he said.
Smith was arrested in Newcastle on Wednesday and charged, after CCTV footage showed a man wearing black pants, a white t-shirt, a black cap and a purple bandana over his face.
He is accused of destroying or damaging property, and robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
His alleged accomplice Robert Gordon remains in custody in Tamworth.
Just before 8.30pm on October 1 last year, police allege two men armed with knives entered The Pub on Gunnedah Road and threatened staff, before demanding money and fleeing the scene with cash.
Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
