On Sunday the Blues captain-coach carved up the Boggabri Kangaroos with an outstanding individual performance in his side's 54-28 victory at Collins Park, Narrabri.
It was a classic display from Cochrane, who started at halfback, and set up four tries with his skipping, darting, slicing runs.
He also strolled through for one of his own in the nine try romp at home where he hopes the Blues can build a "fortress".
"We want to make this a graveyard for opposition clubs," Cochrane said.
Josh Trindall grabbed the two points with a fine display at number nine and also kicked nine out of nine conversions, one of them from the sideline to give him a 22-point haul and leave him top of the Group 4 pointscorers table.
The previous day blockbusting Kootingal prop Chris Vidler led the Roosters to a 28-26 win over Dungowan Cowboys in their Pepperell Shield success at Kootingal while while tough as teak Cowboy lock Shaun Ferguson snared the two points with another whole-hearted display.
Down at David Taylor Park, Werris Creek North Tamworth backrower Josh Schmiedel starred, scoring three tries in his return to the Bears as they overwhelmed the Magpies 54-22.
Schmiedel, a former Country representative and Group 21 premiership winner with Aberdeen, revelled in the tough stuff as well as causing plenty of damage on the right edge.
"Not a bad first hit out," the 32-year-old Boggabri mine worker said.
"We had a few defensive lapses but it's our first game and we will get better."
He said all four Creek tries were "scored on my right side" and he will have to work hard to ensure those "holes" are plugged.
"That will come," he said.
"Our attack was pretty good though".
He is having his second stint at Norths and chasing a third G4 B&F Award.
He won the G4 B&F Award in 2007-08. In 2007 when he was at North Tamworth and they beat West Lions 32-12 in the Grand Final while in 2008 he was at Gunnedah in a year when North beat West Lions 8-6.
He is one of four players to have won the prestigious award twice, Moree's Trevor Tighe won successive B&F's in 2005-06, Narrabri's Sean Russ also went back-to-back in 2011-12 and current North Tamworth captain-coach Scott Blanch won the major gong in 2016 and last year.
Vidler also won the G4 B&F in 2015 when the Bears beat his West Lions 46-25.
