Wayne Ashley Philp appeared in Tamworth Local Court, where he admitted to one of the charges stemming from the crash on April 20 last year.
"I'm instructed to enter a plea of guilty to dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm," Legal Aid solicitor Wendy McAuliffe told the court.
The court heard a second related charge of driving while suspended would be referred to the district court to be dealt with on sentencing, by way of a 166 certificate.

Two other sequences including negligent driving were withdrawn by the prosecution, after the guilty plea.
Police claim Philp was driving a Nissan X-Trail when it collided head-on with an oncoming Holden Cruz.
A 65-year-old woman, who was behind the wheel of the Cruz, was hospitalised with serious abdominal and lower leg injuries.
Dramatic footage, captured by a dashcam in the car travelling in front of the Holden Cruz, showed a Nissan X-Trail in the parking lane on the wrong side of Scott Road, just before it collided with the Cruz.
In court, Ms McAuliffe said she was mentioning the matter on behalf of her colleague, who had carriage of the case.
She told the court she had "no issue" with the police facts being tendered for the committal, but she was "not aware" whether they were agreed or not.
Magistrate Julie Soars committed Philp for sentence in Tamworth District Court, with the case to be mentioned in late May.
He remains on conditional bail ahead of sentencing.
