ONE of Gunnedah's fastest rising tennis stars has received a helping hand in the form of a $1000 grant from the John Longmuir Memorial Foundation.
St Mary's Catholic College student Aaron Osmond will use the funds to help him travel to Adelaide to compete in the All Schools National Tennis Championships this weekend.
Osmond was selected to represent NSW after he was chosen to represent the region's Diocesan schools teams, then Osmond was selected in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges team, where he was chosen as the team's number one seed.
"Aaron will be one of the younger players at the nationals so it should be really interesting to see how he goes," Martin told the Leader earlier this month.
"His fitness has really improved and I think it is really starting to show on the court.
"He has been working hard and thoroughly deserves this achievement."
Osmond will compete at the championships until May 5.
The John Longmuir Memorial Foundation assists junior athletes with costs associated with competing at state and national competitions.
