Actually it is not genuine Christianity that causes war and divisiveness.
All throughout history, man has been engaged in wars and conflicts in every country and tribe.
It is because of man's desire for power, politics and conquests.
On the other hand Christ came to bring peace, restoration, love, unification and healing. His ability to heal all manner of diseases and raise the dead proved that he was the promised One.
He is the only one who has fulfilled this commission.
We have just celebrated his death and miraculous resurrection.
For thousands of years, the Lord God, the Prophets and Angels had prophesied of the coming of the Messiah, whose mission was to redeem mankind from a fallen world.
John 3:16 states "God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but shall have Everlasting Life."
There is a war that Christians are involved in, but it is a Spiritual war. It is between good and evil.
Our weapon is the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God by which our Triune God created all things.
Ephesians 6:12 declares, "For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and of spiritual darkness."
The Christian church is growing rapidly in countries like China and South Korea.
Also in the Middle East, despite much persecution of those who decide to follow Christ. In countries of affluence there is a tendency for some people to feel no need to believe in God.
A great example of what the Gospel accomplished was shown on Channel Nine on Sunday morning. "The Incredible Journey" told the story of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels who greatly assisted the Australian soldiers in the war against the Japanese in 1942, along the Kokoda Trail.
In the early 20th century missionaries had come to these people with the Gospel.
They had previously been fierce and dangerous warriors but had become followers of Christ and followed his example of compassion and peace.

Nundle vandalism
Thumbs down to the person/s who vandalised Oakenville St, Riverside Park, and Lindsay's Gap Rd, Nundle with the words "GO THE WIND FARM" and placed Australian Wind Alliance stickers on the Peel River Bridge for the community to wake up to disheartened on day one of its major tourism event the Nundle Go For Gold Festival.
This festival involves hundreds of volunteer hours, by people on both sides of the debate, working collaboratively for the collective good of the town, community groups and the region. Vandalism of public assets is not acceptable.
The vandalism defaced our town for Anzac Day, and the extensive Tamworth Regional Heritage Festival Nundle program.
We hope it is removed in time for The Great Nundle Dog Race.
We just wish the culprits had to do the work, or repay the cost of removal in volunteering."
