ONE man has been charged with assault after a scuffle with security guards in Tamworth following an Anzac Day event.

The 31-year-old Kootingal man had to be pinned to the ground by security inside Wests Diggers after allegedly failing to quit the venue on Thursday night.
Police will allege the man was with his partner in the upstairs area for a two-up function when she was approached by security and asked to leave, after "showing signs of intoxication".
The pair argued with security and went downstairs before police allege they both were asked to leave again.

The 31-year-old had to be physically removed by security from the club and allegedly struggled with officers and a scuffle ensued.
Police will allege the man made threats to the guards and turned his head and headbutted the security officer, which made "minor contact" with the guard's head.
Police were called and the man was arrested and charged with failing to quit and common assault.
He's been granted conditional bail to front Tamworth Local Court in May.
A 25-year-old man was fined for failing to quit after allegedly scaling the fence of the Imperial Hotel.
Police claim he was refused entry to the Courthouse Hotel by security, who later informed the other pubs in the CBD.
The man tried to get into the Imperial about 9pm but was refused.
A witness then saw the man climb over the back fence of the hotel about 11.35pm.
He was removed from the hotel and given the infringement by police.
The incidents were just two of a handful that marred the day, but police said the majority of crowds were well behaved.
