They might have had to wait until the second round to make their debut, but Barraba/Gwydir's first foray into the Central North women's 7s competition couldn't have started any better on Saturday.

The rookies won both of their games against fellow newcomers Quirindi.
After kicking-off their campaign with a 19-5 victory they were victorious 17-10 in the second game.
"It was a very good starting point," coach Dustin Kelly.
He was certainly impressed by what he saw.
"A lot of the crowd were too. I don't think they were expecting to see half of what they did," he said.
That being said Kelly wasn't surprised by the results.
"I was confident in the girls. It was just a matter of them getting the confidence in themselves," he said.
That flourished over the day, one of the highlights for Kelly watching their confidence making tackles grow.
"You could tell when they first started they weren't really confident," he said.
For many of them it was their first competitive game of rugby. Some of the side had played in a trial game against Wauchope a couple of weeks ago but several of the players were unable to make the trip.
Kelly said that first win had them "pretty pumped" for the second game, although they were outnumbered by the Lions "by a fair few".

He was reluctant to single out anyone.
"Everyone really lifted on the day," he said.
It was a good day for the home side with the Rams first grade getting up 38-20 over the Lions.
Skipper Will Robinson said it was a much better performance than the first round where they drew with Scone 24-all.
"The boys are starting to get used to their positions and there was a bit more thought to what was going on," he said.
The forwards also played a lot better and they were prepared to move the ball a bit wider, which paid dividends.
"Quirindi played really well. They were strong right through the game," Robinson said.
It was only really in the last 10 minutes that the Rams were able to shake them off, scoring two late tries.
"They put a bit of pressure on us in the middle of the second half," he said.
"It was good to bounce back and finish off strongly."
Robinson led from the front picking up the zone and club three points, and players' player.
Half-back Josh Austin. outside centre Andrew Webber, and wingers Nick Penrose and Jayden Gee also had strong games.
