Narrabri fought back from 19-5 down at half-time to defeat Gunnedah 32-24 at Gunnedah.
In Moree, the Bulls showed they are going to be a serious threat backing up their impressive first round performance with a 29-19 win over defending premiers Pirates. Maciu Latabua, Angus Smith, Matthew Wannan and Josh Walker crossed for the Bulls who trailed 19-15 at one stage in the second half.
Walcha also made it two from two thumping Inverell 69-27 while Barraba accounted for Quirindi 38-20.
NEW ENGLAND RUGBY UNION
Tamworth will got into the Easter break on top of the table after downing Armidale 27-20 to make it three straight to start the season.
The Magpies also took the honours in second grade 33-27 while the Blues got up in third grade 14-10 and both women's games - 41-7 and 17-10.
NORTHERN INLAND PREMIER LEAGUE
Second half goals to Kurt Barrow and Chris Hughes spurred Tamworth FC to a 2-nil win over North Armidale. The reigning premiers were dominant for most of the game but in the first half couldn't convert that to goals.
Across town South Armidale were too good for North Companions taking the win 4-nil. Liam Neeson bagged a double for the Scorpions, Liam Georkas and Saad Alphatani also finding the back of the net.
In the other game Oxley Vale Attunga put seven past East Armidale to start their season in style
GROUP 4 RUGBY LEAGUE
Gunnedah Bulldogs when down to Dubbo Macquarie 24-10 in their pre-season trial at Gunnedah.
At Jack Woolaston Oval, North Tamworth beat Aberdeen 54-20 (that scoreline cannot be confirmed at this stage) after leading 44-6 at halftime.
